Wine related things near Oxnard?

by Bill Buitenhuys » Thu Nov 29, 2007 1:49 pm

I've got a two day trip to Pt. Mugu, southeast of Oxnard, CA next week. Other than stopping at Woodland Hills Wine Co on my drive from Burbank airport out to the coast, what else is out that way?

believe it or not, there is a winery to visit in Oxnard - it's a kosher wine , it is a working winery and attached restaurant.
I haven't been there myself, but I've heard good things.....

check it out

Just for shitakes and giggles I went to the broadband version of Yahoo! maps, got point to point directions from Burbank, CA to Point Mugu News, CA, and then searched on wineries and vineyards. There are several along the way.

I was curious because I used to travel down there a lot and never bothered to look with Santa Barbara and Temecula so close and all.

Here's a link to the map I did. You might have to enter the word "winery" in the business search block.

I had a boss once (who ultimately fired me because he bore a striking resemblance to the end of the horse without the eyes, ears, nose and throat) who wondered where I got all my leads from when everyone else was struggling. This little Yahoo! mappy thing was the only tool I needed. I think you can do the same thing with Google, too.
And now what?

If it's not too late (sorry, I've been on travel and couldn't respond), you might try to get an appointment with Ed Pagor (Pagor/Rolling Hills). Ed's wines are idiosyncratic but always interesting. And Ed is a terrific guy and a really skilled and experienced taster.
