WTNs: A Few Rhones

by R Cabrera » Sun Dec 09, 2007 9:54 am

2004 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Reservee, Chateauneuf du Pape
Nose of earth, red and blue fruit, garrique. Some blue berries amidst all the tannin and backward structure. Positive expectation for this wine in the future. B+

2000 Dom. La Soumade Rasteau Cuvee Confiance
I was prompted to buy a bottle after being impressed with a ‘99 version that I had in a tasting with Jay and the good guys and gals in Manila. Fruit, meat, and lots of earth on the nose. A big wine with a good mix of black fruit, high acidity, earthy, and loads of blueberries in the very full middle and at the tail end. Lot’s of chewing at the finish. I like this wine and a good QPR, imho. A-

2001 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee Laurence, Chateauneuf du Pape
Garrique, earth, wet leaves, and dominant fresh meat on the nose. A big wine. Very tannic, blueberries, and ripe cherries. Specks of white pepper and some tartness in the long finish. I’m waiting a few more years before I think about opening my next one. B+

Hi Mon,

You coming over next month? Better start planning now in case it takes another 300 emails to to get everybody on the same page.

Hi Jay,

Aaaah yes, those emails. I've finally just caught up on reading the emails from the last time.

There are no firm plans, yet, as to an upcoming trip. I'll definitely touch base with you if there is one.

Thanks.

Dale,

I thought the Soumade Rasteau was very good for the $30 that I paid. I only scored a bottle and now Winesearcher tells me there's none available locally.
