It was for Frei Brothers Reserve Merlot with an '86' point rating. I've never seen Robin give scores to wines so I thought it was pretty odd. I'm sorry to report that despite Robins 'Big Press', I declined the purchase  !

Sure IS odd. I don't give scores, and I don't recall having given TNs on a Frei Brothers wine.

I do publish some of my TNs online in a "shelf-hanger format" that folks ITB are welcome to print out and hang on the shelf, but they do not incorporate scores. An example:

Mind telling me specifics about the store, and also tell me whether this shelf hanger resembled the one linked above in general appearance and style?

I think you're right Cam. Bucko should've gotten a 'shout' on the Shelf talker.

This sort of stuff has been going on for a while. One of my German notes showed up on a shelf talker about 2 years ago with a big "95 points" on it, even though I had not given a score. I had called the wine a "classic" & that got re-interpreted.

A couple of the folks on eBob have been quoted as a score from "Robert Parker's Wine Discussion."

There is a legal term for that. It's called copyright infringement.

If I ever saw that happen to one of my postings, I'd demand the retailer give me 10% of their profit on the sales of that wine, or immediately remove the shelf talker. And consider themselves lucky I wasn't hauling them into court.

I just laughed & showed them exactly who they were quoting. It was quite funny.

I suppose it could be considered a form of "imitation being the sincerest form of flattery".
