Need wine stores around Fontana CA

by J Eppes » Thu Dec 20, 2007 5:10 pm

Hi.. I will be traveling to the Fontana CA area in Feb. to work the stock car race and need advice to find the best wine stores in that area.

Having dinner with a racing client and he is a french wine enthusiast.

Many thanks in advance for the help.

J,

I don't even know where Fontana California is, but we do have several Californians who frequent the board, so, someone will be along soon to answer your question(s) I just stopped by to wish you welcome to the forum.

Thanks Bob... Look forward to meeting other members...

Fontana is outside Los Angeles off 1-10 near Rancho Cucamonga and San Bernardino.

My Rec....

I've not explored the area that much in terms of wine shopping, but the one that I've shopped the most is Liquorama in Upland. On Foothill Blvd as I recall.

Thanks Tom..

I checked their website and the selection looks good.

Prices are pretty reasonable also.

Thanks and keep them coming.

You're quite welcome. But...jeez.....I thought you stock car guys were all beer drinkers!!! :-)

Liquorama is kind of a funky/dumpy store, but have a pretty interesting selection. Whoever owns the place seems to be pretty passionate about wine. He has (last time I was in there several yrs ago)) a bunch of older Calif wines, but I'd advise caution in buying. They've been hanging around for quite awhile in less than ideal storage conditions.

The driver I work for is a Cali/Carneros native and has Joe Briggs making his juice for him....

Not only did I grow up with stock car racin', but southern as bullet holes thru a road sign too.

But I have loved wine since the 70's when i got to work for a vintner in vouvray while bicycling around europe as a kid.

Thanks to all here.
