Jackson Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2007 (13.5% alc. Screwcap)
Light, bright, sprightly, zesty, lemony and herbaceous - you really notice the crisp, fresh acidity.
Jackson Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006 (13% alc. Screwcap)
Abundantly fruity with a hint of orange peel on the nose and a touch of ripe stonefruit amongst the summer herb, capsicum and tomato and citrus flavours, yet there's a softness and creaminess there that makes this wine so appealing.
I preferred the 2006. I liked the way it had become more seamlessly integrated with that extra bit of age. The acidity was there, but it didn't stick out in such a brash manner as it did in the 2007.
The 2007, as it is drinking now, would be best served chilled to quench the thirst on a hot summer's day (like it was here in Auckland, New Zealand on 1 Jan 2008).
The 2006 is the all-rounder - great to drink on its own and great with summer salad food.
Cheers,
Sue Courtney
