1995 Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Beerenauslese ** - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (1/1/2008)
Time to drink this one up. Bronze/orange color. Aromas of orange zest, candied nuts and fresh apricot. On the palate it's rich but not heavy, with spice accents showing its botrytis, and lots of orange and apricot fruit flavors. Plenty of acidity to keep it lively. A short-ish finish is about the only negative for this wine that is really lots of fun to drink. In the current (post-2003) idiom it's more like a top botrytis auslese than a BA**, but that's no problem from where I sip. (89 pts.)
