WTN: Saurus Select Pinot Noir 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Feb 13, 2008 8:11 pm

Familia Schroeder.
San Patricio del Chañar, Neuquén, Patagonia.

Bright cherry red in the glass.

Tangy, earthy, bright cherry fruit, spicy, slightly viscous and round, with an odd cherry cough syrup note.

A little dirty and bitter on the finish.

Purchased at $14.85 (Canadian).

Quite simple and straightforward but also enjoyable, although I do think that 14 per cent alcohol is getting a bit much for a Pinot Noir.

I mainly bought this wine for the novelty factor - a Pinot Nor from Arentinga - but it proved itself to be a nice littlle weekday sipper.

Thanks for this PN post, Bruce. I have to say I am not a big Saurus fan, one store manager tried to convince me the malbec was the best thing since sliced bread.
Next day, I dropped off a loaf for him to make sandwiches!
