2002 Main Ridge Estate Chardonnay - Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Mornington Peninsula (2/16/2008)
A 'wow' wine for me. I bought this at the winery in 2004 after a wonderful tour by the owner/winemaker, who was obviously a very passionate producer. Drinking very well now, with layer upon layers of flavour. My partner said it was like food - that is, it was very rich and powerful, but not over the top. Had that classic cashew/nut flavour on the finish that I associate with Mornington Penninsula chardonnays too. I'm not a big New World chardonnay fan, but this wine was lovely. (A-/A)
