2001 Louis Jadot Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles-St.-Jacques - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (2/21/2008)
Ran across a misplaced bottle of this wine last night, so I figured what the heck. Deep ruby color, dark raspberry & cherry fruit with moist earth, a touch of leather and a light, floral top note. Very pretty but also quite substantial. The flavors are very dark toned, and there's not as much richness or complexity as on the nose, but over 45 minutes or so in the glass it really fleshed out. There's a lot of material here for the future. I'm looking forward to following this wine for a long time.
