WTN: Haut-Batailley 1989

1989 Château Haut-Batailley (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac)
Very nice, fully mature. Warm and soft. Not thrilling, but easy to like and drinking well.

Sounds nice, more mature than bottle we had at Pauillac thing at Les Sans Culottes.

Yes, that was the best bottle of the 4 I've had, although this one was close.

Am I crazy for saying that sometimes this is all I want from a wine? A wine one can curl up with, be casual around, like an old blanket? That, sometimes, a thrilling A+ type wine that I have to really THINK about would actually be unwelcome?

This was actually the perfect wine for the occasion, dinner with my mom, stepdad, sister, and brother in law. Delicious but not demanding of undue attention, not a shame that we didn't stop to think about each sip.
