Notes from a tasting of wines for a Chaine des Rotisseurs event.

Champagne Taittinger Brut NV - Quite full-bodied. Sweetish for a brut. Mellow. Bready finish. Good.

Champagne Besserat de Bellefon Cuvee des Moines NV - Very dry, refreshing, palate cleansing acidity. Lemony. Dry finish. Good.

Errazuriz Don Maximiano Founder's Reserve 2001 - Cabernet Sauvignon. Very dark. Smooth, Sweet fruit. Spicy, minty finish. Perfect for current drinking. Impressive.

Errazuriz Max Reserve Shiraz 2004 - Black fruit and chocolate on the nose. Smoky, leathery. Powerful and a bit rough but still, a good wine. Needs a bit of time to settle down and smoothen the edges.

Errazuriz La Cumbre Shiraz 2004 - Not much on the nose. Very sweet fruit. Tarry, asphalt, smoke. Well-balanced. Smooth. Long finish. Good for drinking now. Very good.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
