This Grand Cru Riesling was also served from an Impériale bottle. “Nonnenberg” is famous for its massive&elegant minerality, vibrant&racy texture, huge power and long-aging potential. Clearly a Riesling with character. The winemaker Bernhard Breuer who died so early in 2004 was a pioneer for trocken Grand Cru Riesling in Germany, role-model for young winemakers and spiritus rectus for the “Großen Gewächse”. But it is good to see that his daughter Theresa had continued the good work of his father with impressive Rieslings in the vintage 2005.
But back to the ´93, of course a lot of petrol flavors, delicate minerality and perfectly matured. Good to see that a dry Riesling could age so well. No tiredness, maybe a little short on the finish, but no doubt this is Riesling at its Best. Every sip is pure joy....... LABEL

I've loved the few Breuer's I've tasted. Hard to find around these parts, but that is probably a good thing for my wine budget. Thanks for the note.
BTW, I'm cellaring few bottles the 2001 Breuer Berg Schlossberg I picked up a few years ago at close-out for $18....any thoughts on the optimum drinking window on these?

Bill, I would open a bottle, now. I would assume the best time to drink this Riesling is maybe 2011. But this depends also
on your palate prefernece whether you are a Youngwine-drinker or Oldwine-drinker. The drinking window is now-2015+

A few weeks ago I tasted 2005 Schlossberg and I had the feeling I would bite in rocks.......and such closed.
