WTN: 2001 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Kabinett trocken

by Matt Richman » Thu Mar 20, 2008 8:22 pm

Bright, broad acidity. Not cutting like a knife or a lemon, but more like the acidity in a pineapple or lime. Long finish that leaves my mouths salivating in an effort to balance the dry feeling. Unbelievably clean and clear. Very refreshing, very pretty. My non-expert opinion is that this has several years of life left in it.

Sounds like it's drinking well. I last opened a bottle of the same wine about a year ago, and it just wasn't hitting the high notes for me. Then i have rarely had a bottle of Leistenberg Kabinett that seemed like it benefited from age.

Sorry, I neglected to notice that the word "trocken" was left off of the subject line.

I am even more surprised.

Leistenberg just never seems to do well for me.
