"Silver" is the name of the famed Caymus winery's unoaked chardonnay made from Santa Lucia Highlands fruit and the sister wine to the ultra ripe and ultra oaky Mer et Soleil. Bottled under screwcap where as far as I know the MeS is still under cork, this is a pretty good bottle of wine. Ripe but not too ripe bartlett pear flavors with a little green apple, lemon and loquat speak are balanced by perfect acidity. This wine doesn't have the finesse or the detail of the cooler-climate Roessler I posted about last week, but it does show as a 'better' wine and is well worth the $22 I paid.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
