DOC Douro
Sogrape Vinhos

A blend of Verdelho, Malvasia Fina and Viosinho.

Medium golden-yellow in the glass.

Pear on the nose.

Fleshy and rich pear and tangy green apples, spicy, a hint of floral and orange, a moderate bitter/harsh edge, becoming peppery and tart toward the end. With time, the bitter/harsh edge became more prominent.

Peppery and tart on the finish.

I have greatly enjoyed this wine over a couple of vintages and this bottling is sub-par, lacking the impressive richness and plumpness of previous efforts.

Purchased at $13.95 (Canadian).
