WTN: Blackstone Winery NV Port

Blackstone Winery NV Port, California, 19.2% a.b.v.

Tastes like port and that's what is amazing to me. I bought and opened this bottle about two years ago. There was about 1/5 of a bottle left so I stuck it in my wine rack in the infamous central closet with a cork stopper in it, the one which came with the bottle. Well, I bought me a bottle of 10 year-old Quarles Harris Tawny Port at TJ's ($14.99), opened it, had a little party for two,* and was once again left with about 1/5 of a bottle. I figured it was time for the Blackstone and its thick layer of dust to go and be replaced by the newly opened bottle. Tightwad that I am, I tried it before dumping. Delicious. It had thrown some sediment, but still had a bright ruby color edging over to amber and a sweetly nutty taste. That last 1/5 of a bottle now resides within your humble reporter. To be sure, I was quite surprised that an inexpensive California pseudo-port could live so long open in a closet. Maybe I have a magic closet?

*With the Tawny Port we had strawberries, smoked Dutch Gouda, double cream California brie, and some lovely, thinnest of thin sesame seed wafers. You really should have been there!
And now what?

You got a point there!

As to the birds, not much is cooking. But that usually happens this time of year. I imagine some are nesting and not hanging out in the yard. Others are still on their way here.
And now what?
