Mas Blanc, Collioure, 'Cosprons Levants, 2004
Black cherry colored. Deep cinnamon scented mulberry trees in spring bloom. Mild tannins and some saddle developing, Sweetart pixie dust (the yellow color), intriguing sweet-sour finish, mulberry and saline envelope. A nice cut and weight, but could use a couple of years more bottle age. B+/A-

Mas Blanc, Collioure, 'Clos du Moulin', 2004
Nose of black raspberry, brambleberry, with a slight saline tang. Tangy black raspberry and light sweat, prominent tannins suggest keeping this 2-3 years to settle down. Slightly raspy toward the end. Mostly mourvedre here. B+

Parpaousiis, Nemea 'Reserve', 2003
Deep strawberry-cherry red. A lightish nose of semi-dried prunes, slightly raisiny & pruny, but with bright acidity in a medium-bodied blanket. Reminescent of some old-school Bordeaux I've had in the past. Not much interest here. B

Roger Sabon, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, 'cuvee Prestige', 2000
Cloudy, tawny-ish maroon color. Old cedar sweaterbox and candied plum cake on the nose. Sweet kirsch and raspberry syrup, with the mature old prune and oxidized garrigue of old Chateauneuf. Fully mature, and better (not showing the heat) like a bottle tasted about 3 years ago. B+/A-

Marc Morey, Chassagne-Montrachet 'les Caillerets', 1999
Silverish gold. Flaxseed, oak spice, and lemon chiffon on the nose. Delicate oak spice with rounded flavors of lemon creme pie...lightish in flavor. Slight gingered apple-blossom wit hyellow fruit. Good, but not complex enough for $40. B+

Jacques Puffeney, Arbois, 'Trousseau' ,cuvee les Berangeres, 2004
Ah, now we're talking! Color is a pale strawberry wash here. Lovely strawberry aromas, with a slight bitterness. Strawberry-raspberry echoed on the palate, along wit ha slight touch of fenugreek o nthe end. Beautifully femine, elegant wine, befitting of spring. 13.5% A-

Trousseau rocks! Had the Tissot version of this varietal last week, and as it opened up over the evening, it just got richer and more lovely, while retaining great food-friendly acidity. !
