WTN: Dry Creek Vineyard Fume Blanc 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Thu May 01, 2008 5:50 pm

Sonoma County

Very light yellow with green tints in the glass.

Spicy, peppery nose.

The wine showed two different sides. At first, cold from the fridge, it was quite crisp, lemon fruit, peppery and very zippy acidity. As the bottle warmed on the table, it became softer and rounder, showing fleshy ruby grapefruit, peach and even some orange, somewhat creamy, peppery, still good cleansing acidity.

Bitter grapefruit rind and lemon on the long, mouth-watering finish.

Quite good.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Bruce, I drink at least a case of the DCV chenin every summer, maybe two. It is IMO the best California chenin being produced and I can get it for <$9 so why not. If you see it even in that $15 Cdn range, I suggest you try a bottle.
