South Dakota winery gaining praise for its V. riparia wine

by Paul B. » Fri May 02, 2008 3:17 pm

A most interesting story:

Wine made from wild grapes found on western South Dakota's Pine Ridge Reservation is delighting wine connoisseurs from Vermillion (SD) to Paris, France.

Wild Grape is the creation of Valiant Vineyards, South Dakota's first licensed winery. Owners Eldon and Sherry Nygaard says their unique and popular wine offers a complex and distinctive flavor.

I applaud the Nygaards' innovative approach to one of the most abundant native grapes on our continent.
