Continuing a bit of a CA phase:
EOS Reserve Petite Sirah, Paso Robles 2001
Sweet damson (some get black cherry) predominates in a hot & humid wild bramble patch full of dry seedy blackberries, with some faint gound pepper in the background. A solid streak of structured acidity runs through the palate which is really smooth. Sweet-plum pitted front palate, followed by a "cohesively viscous" mid-palate of ink and fine chewy tannins, and a drying finish. The next day it was more pruney, with some cocoa and stewed cinnamon. Very enjoyable if you like the flavours of Petite Syrah in a smooth, ripe style. Good QPR too.
