WTN: Tomero Malbec 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Sat May 10, 2008 7:03 pm

Mendoza
Finca & Bodega Carlos Pulenta.

Dark red in the glass.

Creamy, chocolate and spicy nose.

Soft mouthfeel, rich, creamy, juicy blueberry fruit, chocolate, red licorice, peppery. With time, the wine took on a bit of a hard, tart edge toward the end.

Tangy, gently mouthwatering, chocolate finish.

A nice wine, if you like creamy-chocolatey wines (which I do at times).

Purchased at $12.75 (Canadian).

Bruce... can you get the whites made by Tomero in your region...? My favorite Tomero is the Sauvignon Blanc... I find it to be a good performer in its price class (about US$8 here in Buenos Aires). Not too great of a fan of this producers reds, though.
