- 2000 Kurt Darting Ungsteiner Herrenberg Scheurebe Auslese - Germany, Pfalz (5/17/2008)
My goodness! Quite dark, like a Sam Adams ale, causing unfounded concern about oxidation. The viscosity of nectar, but smoother. Luscious apricot and peach flavors. BA sweet, at least, and lots of botrytis. Not sure I'd want to drink this often, but even though I've made it sound like a freak show it was really very good. Not much Scheurebe character. Believe it or not, a pretty good match for long-aged Gouda and then paprika/cumin/pepper chicken wings.

But Scheurebe is a freak show. That's why we love it!
