Girard has a new tasting room in Yountville. As I was in the Valley for another two-wheeled exploration (wierd weather...last week 102, this week 68!) I stopped by.

The highlight was the 2005 Artistry, which was a refreshing, balanced, juicy Cab/Cab Franc heavy blend with good black currant and red fruit. Juicy, not jammy, and nice gritty tannins that are pretty smooth right now. Good mouth feel. Oak seems pretty well integrated, even at this stage, and not obtrusive at all.

I also liked the 2005 Cab Franc. Overall, big black fruit, fuzzy gritty tannins, and a flash of green pepper. Actually a little warm, like all Napa wines these days
:( but balanced and one of the nicer Cab Francs.

The 2005 Diamond Mountain is hard to judge right now-it's pretty firecely tannic.
