One of a very few 2005 Bordeaux I purchased; I bought the La Prade because of how much I liked the 2000. The performance of this bottle just illustrates how different the last two "vintages of the century" are in their profiles.
The 2000 was fruity with supporting acids and supple tannins that carried it well for about 6 years (though I have one left to see what might happen with more time). The 2005 is voluptuously fruity with abundant tannins that are going to need some serious mellowing out before this becomes what I purchased it to be: "a drink anytime, pleasing expression of merlot & cab franc-based Bordeaux. It's a good wine, but I never expected to get so much tannin from a Cotes de Francs. Thankfully it has a whole lot of fruit. We'll see how the aging goes.
