WTN: Juicy Cab Franc

by Brian K Miller » Tue May 27, 2008 11:09 am

Carrefours Vineyards 2005 Cab Franc-Napa Coombsville/Monticello Road area.

This is a very bright and lively wine, with plentiful mouthwatering acidity. No real green or herbaceous notes, which is surprising because I am finding a lot of hard green notes in 2005 Cabernet Sauvignons. What also stands out is the JUICYNESS of the fruit, blackberry and red currant dominate. Not jammy, this fruit is too light and lively. Outstanding Cab Franc. 91 points.

They have a website. I think you can make an appointment.

If not, you can sometimes taste their wines at Five Vinters, a group tasting room just north of St. Helena off Highway 29.
