2005 John Duval Wines Plexus - Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley (5/24/2008)
My first taste of one of John’s wines on his own label. It was a positive experience. Aromatically this was loaded and a bit heavy … in a good way. The Plexus shows a lot for $30. Very new world but not overly jammy and sappy. Very ripe but not overbearing. Tons of raspberries, blackberries and strawberries. Fruit is very dominant at the front. Medium acid. The middle has a compote quality. The finish goes on and on with nice complexity. (91 pts.)
2006 August West Chardonnay Rosella's Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (5/17/2008)
Not much of a note. I popped this after we had dinner with friends. We sat outside and chatted while sipping on this. A very nice wine. On the richer side but it has the acid to hold it together. Probably one to be drank in the near future.
Cheers,
Jason
