WTN: Chateau Des Charmes Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2006

by Bruce Hayes » Sat May 31, 2008 6:43 pm

Niagara Peninsula

Peppery, tangy citrus rind on the nose.

Zesty and refreshing, lemon, grapefruit, light bodied, good acidity, peppery, becoming a little softer and fleshier in the middle with a hint of orange.

Drying grapefruit rind on the finish.

Certainly not the best SB I have ever had, but pretty good.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $15.95 (Canadian).

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the tasting note. I am in your part of the province today (Kingston). I will be touring Prince Edward County wineries tomorrow. Any suggestions for can't miss wines or wineries?

Hi Tom.

I am afraid that PEC is one area that I know almost nothing about, even though it is located only about an hour west of us.

OK Bruce,

My plan is to visit Waupoos, Grange of PEC, Black Prince and maybe one other winery if we have time. I will be posting tasting notes after the visits. I have tasted some good wines from the first two wineries (and even purchased one from LCBO), but none from Black Prince.

Hope you have a great time, although the weather is supposed to be lousy today.
