WTN: Coffaro '05 Barbera

by John Treder » Sat Jun 07, 2008 10:01 pm

David Coffaro Barbera 2005, Sonoma County
75% Barbera, 15% Sangiovese, 10% Cab Sauv, 14.2% alcohol, 165 cases, Unfiltered, Unfined, $13.00
A Bruiser Barbera. Very full-flavored but without any overripeness and no particular heat. Lots of brightess through the middle. A smooth medium finish. I liked this much better than a bottle of '06 that I drank a month ago, which was on the heavy side. Perhaps it was the 15.1% alcohol in the '06, though the blend was different - 93% Barbera and 7% Cab Sauv, and all estate grapes.
