Long months of reading about this gem of a Summertime quaffer, and at last I held it in my hands: 2006 Bone-Jolly Gamay Noir Rose. First off, I love, love, love the label art! We were going to wait until July 4th to pop the cork and enjoy it with some grilled protein, but with an invitation in hand to a gathering that day with mostly teetotlers, decided to open it early last week instead.

Gail was instantly taken by the strawberry fruity nose, and the great deep pink color. The first sip was of crisp red berry fruitiness and a surprising acidity. I loved the refreshing dryness, as did Gail, who usually goes for the sweeter wines. It matched well with a ground bison burger and roasted taters & Vidalia onions. There was a little left until the next evening, and it was just as tasty as the first night. The only downside was that it was my only bottle...

Did I mention I loved the skellies on the label?
