WTN: 1996 Kurt Darting Durkheimer Fronhof Scheurebe TBA

Pfalz region of Germany. A.P. # 5 160 346 032 97 500 ml. bottle 7.5% alcohol
Received a gold prize at the 1997 Wein-und-Sekt Pramierung.
I opened this when Bill Buitenhuys was in town doing business on Fort Bragg.
I have to say I was somewhat disappointed in the wine.
Salmon or pale coral color.
Honeysuckle botrytis nose. Too sugary for my taste. I'm again convinced that for the most part I prefer Eiswein to BA or TBA wines (not that I drink very many of any of these categories.) This became tiresome to me by the third or fourth sip. I have enjoyed other Darting wines including the Riesling Auslese or Spatlese.

I have one lone bottle of this. I've had others in the past & loved them. TBA is indeed an acquired taste.

Really? I always thought they were easy for novices to like, because of all the rich creamy fruit, candy comparisons, etc..

They are definitely Difficult to Acquire Cost-Wise, that I can agree with

Typically too intense, potentially odd flavors from all the botrytis...

Eiswein on the other hand is like nectar to a hummingbird.

I like your nectar to a hummingbird analogy, David. I feed hummingbirds, and they love their nectar, almost as much as I love drinking eiswein! Jim
