WTN: Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 2000

As an antidote to dark moods caused by an extremely annoying work situation, I decided to try Burgundian therapy. Though I feel privileged in getting to try numerous great wines every year, I do feel that the usual way I try them (big, rushed tasting with tiny pours) is very far from what the wines were meant for. So I selfishly decided to open up a wine to drink with a good dinner (boeuf bourguignon) and a good book (Elliot's An Unexpected Light). Therapy worked.

13% abv; 45,60€. See-through but dark colour. The nose started out quite dark toned and spicy in fruit but with airing turned more into red berried scents: there was both a sweet strawberry scent and a more tart and bitter lingonberry scent, too, which alongside the earthiness provided a lovely counterpoint to the sweet fruit aromas. Medium-full bodied and fruity in an elegant way and with such structure that this is not a heavyweight Burgundy despite the sweetness in the fruit. Refreshing and bright aftertaste with some minerality and fine length. Not perhaps a great Burgundy but it is one that brings me great satisfaction.

Sadly the third left over until tonight was a bit flat and tired. Not one to drink over several days, obviously.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

And that's really all that matters.
