Maipo Valley.
Dark purple in the glass.
Smoky, dark fruit and a hint of green leafiness on the nose.
Silky and smooth in the mouth, peppery, very rich and intense. black cherry and blackberries, chocolate, some charring, tangy acidity, red licorice, viscous, with a not unpleasant bitter streak.
The finish goes on for minutes.
A very fine wine that matched perfectly with BBQ-ed (over a real BBQ with charcoals) chicken. The smoke from the chicken and the smoke from the wine worked very well.
I cannot recall how much I paid for this, but I suspect it was less than $15 (Canadian).
