71% Malbec, 20% Merlot, 9% Tannat; 13% alc./vol. Very dark garnet hue with a cherry-garnet meniscus. Ethereal, liquorous, slightly-hot/modern/forward nose of subdued cherry/red-fruit; a bit of oak spice in the background. Grippy and somewhat harsh on the entry, with more palpable heat than the 13% alc. by volume would suggest. Crisp acidity and some pleasing tannic roughness. Tartish on the mid-palate and into the finish; some oak spice but overall vague in terms of flavours. Well structured if a bit hot. I'd also say that this wine has peaked: the somewhat hollow mid-palate probably won't offer up much more in the future, even if the tannins do smoothen out.
This would be fine with rare or medium-rare steak. It was a bit of a mismatch, however, for the rabbit cacciatore in homemade tomato sauce.
