1953 Keller "Hubacker" Auslese
A truly unforgettable moment when I had the chance to taste a `53 “Hubacker” Auslese last week at the estate Keller. During our diner Klaus-Peter Keller jumped in the cellar and opened his treasure chamber. An Auslese made by his grandfather and never left the estate cellar. BTW, it was the last bottle. The bouquet and the first sip was simply stunning. No petrol notes!
So fresh & young with a clear, pure fruit and a precise structure, WOW. And after soo many decades the wine also shows such a kind of elegance and finesse. It was always obvious for me that german Riesling has an excellent aging potential. But so good, this really touched me. This ´53 Auslese outperformed every aged Riesling which I have tasted so far. Thank you so much Klaus-Peter for this once in a lifetime opportunity to taste such an perfect matured beauty........
