WTN: Argyle Reserve Pinot Noir 2005

by Jay Labrador » Mon Jun 16, 2008 10:16 am

Oaky, sweet, Coca-cola nose with some fleeting berry notes. With a bit of air, some mint also appears. Very soft tannins with some strong acidity. On the palate, tobacco and sour cherry. This just doesn't come together. The finish is all oak. This wine is disjointed and the heavy-handed use of oak here completely overwhelms whatever varietal character this wine had. Didn't like this at all.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy it, but I'm not surprised. I've never been an Argyle fan either, finding them too oaky/over the top in style.
