WTN: Eyrie Pinot Noir Reserve 2000

by Bill Hooper » Mon Jun 16, 2008 7:31 pm

Good lord! What a Pinot Noir. Whenever I happen across a bottle of Eyrie (anything they make really), I always wonder why I don't drink more Eyrie! I've gotta make more time for these sorts. This '00 is absolutely the most spectacular wine I've ever tasted from Oregon (of which I get my fair share, but admittedly not like others here.) A sweet blast of cherries and (yes!) chocolate milk leaps from the glass with more strawberries, marjoram, sweet curry and rusty, wet forest. It is so elegant and unassuming, but also comes with a stabbing jolt of acidity. The wisdom of maturity is upon it, yet it has such a long life yet to live. Excellent. New World. Pinot Noir. 13% alc. $42

Why thank you Cynthia, but words can do that wine no justice.
