Rapel Valley.
Let me begin by stating that SB is one of my favourite white wines.
Light golden color in the glass.
Pine resin and spicy nose.
Very fleshy and juicy lemon and lime, tangy gooseberry and bitter grapefruit rind, a fairly heavy bitter streak, good acidity, moderate weight, some sweetness (sort of a marmalde sweetness) peppery, minerally. With time the bitter streak calmed down and the wine became almost creamy. The sweet fruit also grew in intensity. Despite the creaminess I noted, the back label states that the wine was fermented in stainless steel, so I found that rather interesting.
Overall, I found the wine a bit too heavy, thick and intense for a SB, from which I expect a certain degree of zip and a refreshing quality. This wine was so heavy and intense that it became rather wearing with time. I also found the 14.5 per cent alcohol to be quite high for a SB.
