WTN: Jamek Jochinger Berg Riesling Federspiel ‘06

It seems as though Jamek has been getting lost in the shuffle a bit and I’ve heard whisperings of laurel-sitting and the like. For me, this wine completely puts those rumors to bed (and it’s not even Klaus or Achleiten.) This is a very good bottle of Riesling to be sure! The wine is soooo cold; not the temperature, but the feeling it gives. It’s like walking into an abandoned castle all by yourself. It is drafty and cavernous and even the flavors echo off one another. The fruit is citrusy -lemons, grapefruit, bosc pear, mint. There are no pretty floral aromas, but a deep and heady stone and iron mineral. It drinks like a block of granite. If you want a Federspiel that will age a bit, I’m guessing this is a great place to start. 12,5% alc. $30
