Q: Older Angeli, Huet, Gigou

by Rahsaan » Thu Jun 26, 2008 10:42 am

I spent the day roaming (the wine shops of) Rennes and found a number of interesting things.

Aside from the older Burgundies that I'm not sure I should purchase, the following more affordable Loire wines jumped out at me. Any advice?

Marc Angeli, Les Fourchardes, 1996 and 1999, roughly 15euros each

1985 Huet LhL Sec 14euros
1985 Huet CdB Moelleux 34euros

1988 Gigou Clos St Jacques roughly 15euros

I figure the Huets are a no-brainer?

How about the Angeli wines. Have they held up? Become more interesting?

And what about Gigou?

They do look good. There are lots of even older Huets at good sub-100euro prices. But, until I actually start my job, I figure I should 'content' myself with these. :D
