WTN: Novas Carmenere-Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Tue Jul 01, 2008 10:21 am

Colchagua Valley
Vinedos Emiliana

An 85-15 per cent blend.

Very dark purple in the glass.

Drying, green and woody on the nose.

Some heavy roasted-almost burned notes, green woodiness, black cherry, thick and viscous, spicy, chocolate, with a bitter streak. With time, the greeness-woodiness pretty much went away, but the burned-bitter streak remained, detracting from what else the wine had to offer.

A bitter and drying finish.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Whooppee...Canada Day!

Are you celebrating today Bruce? Thought a nice Okanagan sparkler would go down nice. No burnt/bitter streak there!
