SantaFe Wine&Chile Fiesta...

by TomHill » Tue Jul 01, 2008 1:45 pm

The program is now out and tickees go on sale July 7 at:
SantaFe Wine&Chile Fiesta

One of the most interesting seminars will be on if wines display terroir (though the blurb doesn't use the dreaded T-word). The panel will include NeilRosenthal, Randall Grahm, and JasonHass.
What I found most amusing is that the panel will be moderated by...now don't laugh....Alice Fiering...in another one of her self-promotional appearances. I'll, of course, be there to raise hell.

Gaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!

I just saw Neal last night on his book tour. With the exception of his unabashed love of cork he was great. I read Alice's book & she really should get a restraining order on me. Randall is interesting, but perhaps more than I can take.

On balance I think I'll pass.

"Beautiful time of year to be in Santa Fe, David," she said, perhaps not objectively. :D

I just got my program in the mail. We'll have to see if we can make it again this year and that session does sound... interesting. Talk about stacking the deck.

OK, I looked at that session more carefully. It sounds like a freakin' book promo. Great, I get to drink some Rosenthal imports (maybe while he flogs his book, too) while listening to Alice tell me why I should go out and buy her book. Maybe not...

Mark,
I gave the guy who's in charge some background on Alice and hoow she's pretty much regarded as the laughing stock of the wine world.
Neal's book is worth flogging...Alice's is certainly not. I think it's not going to devolve into a book flogging session, but will be
a pretty serious/animated/spirited discussion. There are three pretty strong & opiniated panelists on there that I'm confident will not
allow it to turn into an evernt for Alice to flog her pitiful book.
Hmmmm...before the GrandTasting, there's always an hour before things start where the various authors sign & shill there books.
Maybe I should make a signboard forwarning people not to buy her book.
