WTN: 2000 Àlvaro Castro Quinta Da Pellada (Dão)

Beautiful deep red, no bricking. Nose of red fruit, earth, and cherries. On the palate the red fruit came to the fore, with the earthiness developing the longer it was in the glass. Delicious with a wild mushroom pizza. ABV 13%. A gift from a friend back East, so no idea on price.

I'll be looking for more of this and other Portuguese wines like it.

You might need to post on eBob. Mark Squires is now reviewing Portugese wines. He's actually doing a very credible job & not favoring some overblown fruit-bomb style.
