2006 Crow Mountain 'High Maintenance' Cabernet Sauvignon (Monticello - Virginia)
Cherry, plum and blackberry fruit mingle with some spice and a bit of earth on the nose of this Cabernet Sauvignon. It's light (predictably given that it's young vines), but there's good flavor presence (even an almost candied cherry note), nothing underripe or green about it, and it would be a good red to accompany pork or even burgers. Overall this is one of the best reds I have had from Virginia.

Monticello! Your tasting note would make Thomas Jefferson proud. Given his interest in wine and horticulture, makes me wonder if he ever planted vineyards at his home there. Does anyone know?

There are now some reasonably successful wineries in the area of the actual Monticello estate.

The wine in question comes from the broader Monticello AVA.
