WTN: Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Mon Jul 07, 2008 8:55 am

South Eastern Australia.

Light yellow in the glass.

Spicy and lots of lime on the nose.

Quite peppery, with lemon, lime and some bitter grapefruit rind, a touch on the sweet side (sort of an orange sweetness) but with enough good acidity to keep it from being cloying, medium weight, refreshing, good intensity.

As the wine warmed, it also revealed a hint of creaminess/roundness.

Good acidity and lime on the finish.

A great summer party wine and much better than I had thought it would be.

A steal at $11.20 (Canadian).

Thanks for the note, Bruce. Wine geeks do tend to diss big brands like Yellow Tail, and it's a useful reminder that they can still serve as passable summer sippers.
