Etienne Sauzet Borgougne La Tufera 2006
Pale yellow with a slight green tinge. This smells like poached pear with fresh cream, and apple crumble - yes, it’s reminding me of cerealed/pastryed fruit desserts. Possibly some orange blossom (or in any case a floral note) that lifts the nose a little too. Notable lees influence but very soft on the oak. The palate is quite full, almost sweet in its creaminess, yet juicy and refreshing with lime-like acidity and flavour as well as floral pear and Granny Smith apple, and a zingy finish of good length. This is refreshing Burgundian Chardonnay that’s more about the fruit and the lees than it is about the secondary characteristics (at least, so far, with this age) or oak. Not complex (and I’m not really sure it’s worth the £15 /~US$30/~€19 for me) but nevertheless enjoyable.
