Thanks for catching that one, Jim. On a quick read, it looks exceptionally interesting, particularly from my standpoint as a food-and-wine guy.

The story caught my eye, too. But Janet Fletcher is really taking a beating in the comments. Take a look. She is one of the most knowledgeable food and wine writers/critics on the West Coast. And yes, her husband is a winemaker. Which brings up the question raised, by accident, in the comments: is there an official definition of winemaker? A consensus definition? And if I were to custom crush some wine, would I be able to change my business card? In the early Napa days, the owner made the wine and called friends to see what they were doing with their grapes. Since then, winemaking has diverged into all kinds of employment categories. Maybe I am just trying to defend Janet. I would suggest that the sommeliers/winemakers/brand owners were pleased to see their commercial ventures in print, though perhaps not the notes.
