Trying this out prior to Mo'Cool as I don't have much Bordeaux in my collection. I purchased six bottles of this en primeur (futures.) It's a St. Emilion Grand Cru Classe'. 13.5% alcohol. Dark color and opaque. Viscous texture. Dark berry flavors with oak shading; a bit drying on the finish. Mellows with aeration. Probably has staying power until 2010 or beyond. Good fruit as the underpinning of the wine. Had this with beef pot roast with potatoes, carrots and onion and a tomato basil pasta sauce on the meat and vegetables. $39.99 after arrival. I probably paid less on futures.

Sounds tasty. I do wonder about Bordeaux as a summer wine even theme though.

I know what you mean, David. I'm going to try a Vollenwieder Riesling next week and then maybe a Gobelsburg Austrian white. I also have some Sancerre to try during the summer. i don't have many rose' wines on hand but may pick up one or two more--enjoyed one from South Africa.
