WTN: Royaux Virtuoso Museum

2002 Museum Cigales Crianza (Castilla y León) Dusty, acidic, sour cherry laced tempranillo (tinto del pais) with a noticeable dose of French oak. Fairly shrill on it’s own but it works with fried chicken covered in a massively dosed black pepper sauce. $15 retail, $4 closeout

2001 Casa Girelli Virtuoso Primitivo (Puglia) Plummy and jammy with lots of roasted fruit. It’s borderline on heading into prune-ville but has enough tannic and acidic structure to make it very food friendly. It’s not all that interesting though. Held up surprising well under rubber cork. $14 retail, another $4 closeout

2006 William Fevre Chablis Cuvee Royaux (Chablis) This wine shows good Chablis character with plenty of sour apple, verve, acidity, and decent flintiness. There is the slightest hint of wood in an otherwise steely presentation. Quite tasty but it's not really calling me back for more. $14

Nice bargains Bill. So I guess in Arizona they can discount below wholesale.

I guess so, David. I still haven't figured out the rules here. These were from a local Wild Oats-type grocers (called Sprouts Market) where I also got the Schonborn and Albrecht for $4 too.
