WTN: '04 Lingenfelder Scheurebe Kabinett Trocken

by David M. Bueker » Fri Jul 11, 2008 7:40 pm

No way in the world to fit the whole name of the wine in the title block. It's from the Grosskarlbacher Burgweg in the Pfalz.

This is one of those wines that reminds me of Scheurebe's tendency to take on Sauvignon Blanc-type characteristics. It's not grassy or cat pee elements, but an aggressive grapefruit aroma & an overall pungency that take it in that direction. Dry and refreshing, it's a very well made wine, but not as much my style as it was 2 years ago when it was more tropical. Drink up.

Thanks, David. Who is importing Lingenfelder now?

I have not asked Terry about the drop. He seems to have hit his saturation point in the Pfalz, I'm excited for the '07 MC's though.

The Lingenfelder issue was mostly about Rainer's desire to extend the presence of his basic bottlings in the USA and Terry wanting to keep the focus on estate, single vineyard wines IIRC.
