A WTN - My first, so please be gentle

by Patti L » Sat Jul 12, 2008 11:38 pm

Tonight I made 2 dishes from the cookbook "How to Eat Supper" by Lynne Rosetto Kasper and Sally Swift. I love that cookbook!

I made Black Pepper Honey Steak and Roasted Scallions and Asparagus.

I served it with a 2003 Trinitas (Napa) Zinfandel, Bigalow Vineyard. Under $20.00 A beautiful deep ruby color. On the nose, pepper and black cherry. Moderate tannins and ample fruit, particularly black cherry. Good spice. It complemented the pepper of the steak, but held it's own as a sipper after dinner as well.

I know those aren't the best notes, but I'll get better. Promise.

What John said! You told us what you ate and drink, and you did it in a clear and descriptive style. Nuthin the matter with that, Patti. Keep 'em coming. It just gets easier!

Applause!!

What John and Robin said. Only one thing missing: for those of us not familiar with Trinitas Winery or the Bigalow vineyard, it would be helpful for your note to include it's geographic origins (Paso Robles, Tiajuana, the moon...) so we can put your note in context.

Way to go and welcome aboard Patti..TN's don't need to be formal or structured..I have no clue where the Bigalow vyd is but I have a bottle of the 2003 Trinitas Old Vine Contra Costa Zin that was recommended by my local wine merchant ..Now that you have gotten my attention, will pop this bottle next time the Queen Mother fires up the grill.

Thank you all for the feedback! I edited to add the location.

Jon, I'll be interested in what you think of the wine. I have some of that as well, but haven't opened it yet. I really like their zins.
